>Ten years ago today, September 3, I felt the same loss as all of you have. My heart goes out to each and every one of you. Cory Joe was 15 years old when on his way to football practice while riding with a friend of his on their bikes was stopped by another friend in a pickup truck headed to practice as well. The friend told him to throw the bikes in the pickup truck and he would take them there. So they did! The driver picked them up on a dirt road 1 mile from our home. As young teens do he decided to show off and brought his vehicle speed to an exceeding 85 mph. My son was scared and went to the trucks back window and told him to slow down. The driver thought he would jerk the truck (in humor) and get him to fall in the back of the truck, but my son stumbled, caught his foot in the spoke wheel of his bike and lost control then fell out of the truck. His head hit the dirt road and cracked his skull 4 inches on both sides of the back of his head. The truck crashed and thank god no one else was hurt. But 13 hours later I sat at a hospital with tears rolling down my face as I listened to the doctor as he knelt down to be and told me that they had down everything they could but my son had passed on. (He died from cerebral hemorage-bled to death) Even though I have three beautiful daughters, whom are my angels, the loss of my son was unbearable. It took me months as I sat each day on the porch waiting for him to ride his bike into the driveway. Time does help soften the pain, but the sorrow of his loss and the loss of future memories will haunt me till the day I will meet him at our heavens gate and he will look at me and say "Oh Mom, I've missed you!" Each day doesn't go by without a tear forming in my eyes and heart. God be with all of you and your loss. "A guardian angel brings comfort and peace to all whom believe." I believe my son is our Guardian Angel! Marti Preston
