that american woman I interviewed for that breast cancer feature was much the same. She got breast cancer at 36, sits there with no hair and one boob cut off PLUS they have just found a shadow on her thyroid that tests show is malignant and she spoke for two hours about god. It was hard to pull a quote from the interview that didn't reference the almighty and her saviour.

I know you said you were catholic Kyla so I hope this doesn't offend you but ....

Anyway, she is a missionary and her husband runs some church thing. So obviously this riles my feathers form the outset. The article is about breast cancer NOT god but I honestly think she was using her sickness and the interest the media was showing in it as a happy avenue to further her real message. She doesn't really want to share her treatment story (it was a new method and thus the media were keen to hear about it) she just wants to yabber on about god.

Call me cynical but I truly believe that she was sort of glad she had cancer because it gave her a profile to be quoted around the country on the record about god.

Every single article about her has mentioned it and of course I said NOTHING about it.

Of course everyone copes with the 'drudgery of life' (as this initial post called it) differently and I suppose wanting to believe it all gets better in step 2 is understandable. Whatever ....
