Hi Mark,
I started the petition last summer and usually, it takes about a year. One of my best friends, veteran stuntman Jesse Wayne, was watching Encore Westerns and saw the promo and told me. He worked on the show doing stunts starting in season 7 and Dan Blocker was one of his best buddies. Andy has my email by now, so he knows, too.

I believe these "Lost Episodes" are without Pernell Robert's character, the eldest son Adam. If that's the case i wouldn't be overly interested in watching because i'm one to feel that without Pernell Roberts on the show it's really a notch down from being one of the finest TV westerns ever made. The character of Adam Cartwright defined the premise of a man and his sons and Encore Westerns is doing the Bonanza phenomenon an injustice by advertising these episodes that may be without Adam. This is just my opinion.

My dad just mentioned seeing this ad on encore westerns, but had no idea what the "lost" episodes were. Im guessing TV Land doesnt show these in their line up? Im not TOO excited about them, as I didnt like the show as much once Pernell and Dan left.

Hi Chris,
The Lost Eps were promoted by that title, as seen on Family Channel back in 1988. Many of them were reran as Bonanza and Ponderosa in the 70's and 80's on 16mm prints and on tape. Most agreed it was after Dan died that the show wasn't the same in 1972. True, after Pernell left, a slight change in dynamics, but he would have left sooner or later. Still, the show offered a lot to anyone. It's taken me 7 long years to get these eps back on national TV. Thanks to all who have helped. Here in the States, the series can't be aired in one whole, as per NBC's wishes.

If someone would assure me that they will release all 14 seasons on DVD I would not do anything more than watch the Lost eps on encore but my head is working on getting all my DVD Recorders hooked up again, still some eps I am missing.

Hi Larry,
The syndication set with some edits, but they will be as complete as they were on Goodlife TV. No time compression and no commercials on Encore, so that's cool!

Wow..this is great news.I am looking forward to seeing the lost episodes on Encore Westerns once they return in July. Plus the channel has no commercial interruptions so we should get them completely uncut and unedit..THANK YOU RICK for all of your hard work in making this come to pass.

I first got cable in April 1989. The Lost Eps were my mainstay on FAM for many years. I still have the airdate logs to this day!

Just saw the promo air on Encore Westerns. I can't say how thrilled I am to learn of this news. Rick, I had no idea you were working behind the scenes to get the "lost" episodes back on TV. A few months ago I wrote a Bonanza article for my pop culture column on Examiner.com. Looks like I will get a chance to rewrite it & spread the news about Encore Westerns.

Re: BONANZA: The Lost Episodes begin in July on Encore Westerns! -- Rick, 17:51:00 05/13/12 Sun [1]
Hi Jeremy,
Yes, I've been working on it for a long time. My first success was Hallmark Channel for me and the fans and then a 7-year dry spell that led to Encore Westerns. In the way of TV Land, I mounted a petition in 2002 to get the 260 ep set on there, as PAX-TV took the show off because of all their financial problems and infomercials until they closed the door. The set on TV Land will be pulled off on Aug 31st and I don't know if they plan to re-acquire them again.
This is a first and probably the ONLY time you will see Bonanza's "Lost Episodes" with no commercials on a premium movie channel and it was worth the wait.

Hi Rick,
Yes, I first saw the lost episodes on Hallmark Channel. I've never seen the uncut versions. If you're interested, shoot me an email. Next time I do a Bonanza article, it would be a pleasure to interview you.

I interviewed actress Lee Purcell a year ago and asked her to discuss her role in "The Weary Willies" 1970 episode.
http://www.examiner.com/article/she-fell-out-of-the-womb-performing-step-with-leading-lady-lee-purcell
In the meantime, I'm readying an extensive interview [12,000+ words] with Kent and Susan McCray about their years with Michael Landon. I will probably wait until July 1 to publish. Naturally, Bonanza features quite heavily. Btw, it's in my Top 5 favorite shows ever.

Have any of you ever thought once Pernell left, the producers should have trird to find another actor to play Adam Cartwright

They may have had the thought, but I doubt it. NBC execs knew he couldn't be replaced and the other three could manage for some time until a new character arrived. The closest they came was with Will (Guy Williams) and that failed.
