I'll have to agree with the rest of you that this episode was OK, but not spectacular.

I didn't really mind Kate. Funny, I never saw her as a love interest, or a potential love interest, for Angel at all. Some time before the season started, I read an interview with DG or Joss or possibly both, that said that Kate would be involved in his life, but not in a romantic way. Maybe that helped me. *shrugs*

Anyway, I kind of liked Kate as a friend for Angel. Every TV private investigator has a contact on the police force, and it seemed to me that Kate was obviously intended to fill that role for Angel. The fact that she didn't trust him, and was obviously going to be freaked when she found out what he was, created the potential for some interesting drama in future episodes.

The A/C/D interactions were fun. It was nice to see Angel start to interact with people, but I wasn't too excited about Doyle's obvious pursuit of Cordelia. It wasn't that I didn't like it, I just never really got into it.

Anyone else have Kate pegged as an obvious Buffy clone? The blond hair. The "likes to fight" attitude. The "gazing longingly at Angel" thing.

After Buffy, it would seem like Kate would be exactly Angel's type. So, if they didn't want her to come across as a potential love interest, they didn't do a very good job of nipping that notion in the bud, did they?

I know. Kate was so obviously introduced as a potential love interest. I think those comments by DG was due to all the backlash they were getting, not just because of Kate, but also Riley.

I can understand Kate's attraction to Angel, but the writer's clearly wanted there to be tension between A/K.
