Yep, fun ep! Another of my faves.
Although, I think Spike was a little too Wile E Coyote. But his scenes with Angel made up for that. Interesting how Cordy and Doyle had to save Angel this time around. I really didn't see a need for Oz though, except to give Angel the ring, he was kind of just "hey". Not an Oz fan. And whenever I watch that last scene with Doyle and Angel, I always wish it was Cordy and Angel instead.

OK Morrigan my dearest......not to go all "school yardy" on you honey but I beat your butt posting first yesterday AND the day before :o) Today I had to food shop :o( Life has a way of interfering with my Angel duty. Anywhosit:
The opening scene was my major introduction to Spike (other than reading scripts) and what an intro it was. I was laughing so hard I hurt. Brilliant presentation by JM.
I didn't know who OZ was either but got the feeling that him and Angel didn't get on well? anyone wanna clear that up for me?
And of course the end....broke my heart when he smashed the ring....why oh why couldn't he have put it somewhere that only he knew of?
Loved the barbs throwing between Angel and Spike:
S - isn't Buffy cute when she's hurting?
A - She's cuter when she's kickin your ass
And Spike's rant about Angel being a Vamp Detective now...whats next? Vampire Cowboy, Vampire Fireman? or oh Vampire Ballerina.....lol
Angel - well I do like to work with my legs
Obviously one of my favorites from season one

Angel and Oz weren't best buds or anything, but they got along OK. I think Oz probably could identify with him, since he was half werewolf. They got along better than Angel and Xander did, that's for sure. Which is why I thought Oz didn't exactly fit in this ep. But I guess it made sense for Oz to go, since he was passing through due to a gig.

When Oz first showed up they both said hey and Doyle made a comment. Something like "Are they always like this?" And Oz says that they are usually non-something or other (they don't talk a lot.)
But Angel, Cordelia and Oz were on the outside of the Scooby gang. They were dating the main players so they only really interacted a little with each other.
This was one of my favorite episodes the first season just for the Spike factor. Every scene he was in was great. I was all for torturing Angel as long as it was Spike with the needle nose pliers.
I loved that the trio was growing closer. Cordy and Doyle saving Angel's life instead of the normal Angel saving everyone.
Was I the only one who notices Angel call out Cordelia's name when her and Doyle came in with the rescuing? I am probably reading more into it then what's really there but I'm a shipper and that's my God given right.
Excellent episode. It's in my top ten.

Totally agree Rouse. I think that's one of the reasons why I didn't mind Doyle being killed off. It allowed Cordy to grow as a character and it brought A/C closer together.

Oh yeah. Too true. As much as I'm having serrious Doyle missage from going over these old eps I totally agree.
In The Dark. What can I say. I didn't love this ep, I didn't hate it, for me it just seemed to be an excuse to bring over a couple of BtVS characters and bring viewers with them. A smart thing to do at the begining of a spin off series but it didn't make that much of an impression on me. Don't get me wrong I loved Spike in this ep and it was nice to see Oz. I did like when Oz first came in and Cordy was so happy to see him. They have history (Her dating his best? friend Devon. Their significant others cheating on them with each other. Being Scooby outsiders.) and it was nice to see that shown..
I loved Spikes hair catching on fire. I don't usually like slapstick comedy but this had me ROTFLMAO.

Oz wasn't an outsider. Yeah, he got involved with the Scoobs because of Willow, but he was accepted as one of them immediately. He fit in.
It's funny that Oz was surprised that Cordy was happy to see him.

I think what Iris meant is Oz and Cordy weren't part of the "core" scooby group which is Willow, Buffy and Xander. They both dated someone from the core group which let them to be accepted.I don't think Oz or Cordy would have join the group if they weren't dating Willow and Xander.
