I think the people don't hate Spike as much as they do Cordy, because he's not as big of threat.

Spike is just Buffy's play thing, no real love connection so he's not in the way of B/A.

Now Cordelia, on the other hand, is a huge threat. Angel's in love with her, and B/Aer's are upset.

What I don't get though is that Angel loves her, she doesn't return the sentiment yet these people blame her and call her a bitch. She didn't ask Angel to love her, she didn't knowingly get in the way of Angel ever going back to Buffy (but thank god she did).
