Re: Official A Walk Down Memory Lane: Lonely Hearts thread -- Princess Twilite (Admin.), 11:20:20 03/06/02 Wed
I'm on the boat that this episode was good in some ways and bad in others, I didn't care much for Kate, but I wasn't really against her either, her character just seemed a little... Grooish to me.
And about Cordy not being good with searching the internet, remember in the very first Ep of Buffy, how she was trying to cheat off of Willow in Computer Class... I just thought that was a nice continuity... but then later on she seems to know tons about computers..
Well it was pretty obvious Angel and Doyle didn't know much and since she's the girl Friday;) it's obvious that it had to be her to learn... oooh and the moment when she showed Angel and Doyle the business card...
Man, now I'm all nostalgic-- As much as I think it was a right turn for them to kill Doyle off considering what it's done to Cordy's character... I still miss him sometimes, pretty pathetic considering he was only in nine eps huh?:)

Re: Official A Walk Down Memory Lane: Lonely Hearts thread -- Spike 'n Cordy, 14:43:07 03/06/02 Wed
This episode had it's ups and downs. the ups were the group interaction. I liked how Doyle asked Angel to talk him up to Cordy and how Angel didn't know him so well so he wouldn't have to lie.
Kate was boring. She was a strong blonde that was suppose to peak Angel's interest. Now I wasn't a die hard B/Aer but even I thought it was too soon to bring in a potential love interest. (Can't say the same for what happened on Buffy. The Parker guy.) Every episode where there was a potential love interest introduced, I didn't enjoy. (With the exception of 'Eternity' but I can't talk about that for a few weeks.)
Any way, some good group scenes and some boring Kate scenes.

Ah yes, forgot about that! I liked that Angel refused to talk Doyle up to Cordy. Simply for the fact that he didn't really know Doyle at the time, hence he didn't really trust him, and didn't really want Cordy getting involved with him. Hey, it's A/C subtext!

I know Joss wrote "City Of..", but who wrote "Lonely Hearts"? Was it Minear, since he apparently liked Kate so much?
It's funny, I never really cared before who wrote what, but now it's a big deal.

Re: Official A Walk Down Memory Lane: Lonely Hearts thread -- Iris, 16:00:04 03/06/02 Wed
I looooved the business card scene (A butterfly? Owl? Bird?)
Personaly I've never seen anything but an Angel but I love that this is a running joke. A/C/D were all so cut in their little after fight bonding talk in the club. I'm having serious Doyle missage at the moment. And yes I can watch Angel's reaction to Cordy's appartment over and over and Cordy's reaction to Angel's reaction (It was supposed to go home, hotel, hotel, husband - Hyperion anyone?).
No I've never been a huge Kate fan. I like her as a friend for Angel but not a love interest. It still cracks me up that they met in truely tragic singles bar - and no one's written a fic teasing Kate about the fact she used to frequent that place?
Anyhoo have to work now But I'll be back.

This was an ok ep, socially inept A was quite funny, it's a shame they didn't go with original script, i think that would have made Kate more interesting although I did like her. Question, does anyone know what the song is that's played as the demon goes from body to body?

I'm not sure, but I think the song played is "Touched" by VAST.

Re: Official A Walk Down Memory Lane: Lonely Hearts thread -- rgw, 19:46:48 03/06/02 Wed
I'll have to agree with the rest of you that this episode was OK, but not spectacular.
I didn't really mind Kate. Funny, I never saw her as a love interest, or a potential love interest, for Angel at all. Some time before the season started, I read an interview with DG or Joss or possibly both, that said that Kate would be involved in his life, but not in a romantic way. Maybe that helped me. *shrugs*
Anyway, I kind of liked Kate as a friend for Angel. Every TV private investigator has a contact on the police force, and it seemed to me that Kate was obviously intended to fill that role for Angel. The fact that she didn't trust him, and was obviously going to be freaked when she found out what he was, created the potential for some interesting drama in future episodes.
The A/C/D interactions were fun. It was nice to see Angel start to interact with people, but I wasn't too excited about Doyle's obvious pursuit of Cordelia. It wasn't that I didn't like it, I just never really got into it.

Anyone else have Kate pegged as an obvious Buffy clone? The blond hair. The "likes to fight" attitude. The "gazing longingly at Angel" thing.
After Buffy, it would seem like Kate would be exactly Angel's type. So, if they didn't want her to come across as a potential love interest, they didn't do a very good job of nipping that notion in the bud, did they?

I know. Kate was so obviously introduced as a potential love interest. I think those comments by DG was due to all the backlash they were getting, not just because of Kate, but also Riley.
I can understand Kate's attraction to Angel, but the writer's clearly wanted there to be tension between A/K.
