Subject: I understand that Denis has close ties with Latin America, and I think he was even national director (or probably still is) of Miss Nicaragua. But what I am concerned about is the lack of "Canadian content" here. I mean, the services that they're paying for in Colombia and Venezuela are also available here in Canada, especially in Toronto, where most of the winners live, anyway. I'm just sayin our winner is of Russian heritage, picked by a Nicaraguan(-Canadian) director, and trained by Venezuelan and Colombian professionals. I'm all about diversity, don't get me wrong, but where is CANADA in the picture?

In reply to: Christi 's message, "I *believe* the CDN director is also or was the director for Colombia, or has a south american connection somehow, which is als why the winners and a lot of the runner s up (who come back the next eyar and win...) compete in a lot of the south american pageants queen of coffee, queen of flowers, queen of bananas etc. I think they compete in these pageants as training for MUC and further MU, you can pick the winners of MUC based on who competes at these south american pageants then go back to MUC the next year ;)" on 16:02:49 07/20/10 Tue

Well, don't forget that 99% of the products you buy or use are marked MADE IN China, and more than half of the food on your table is from other countries, and you watch mostly Hollywood movies, and your job was outsourced to overseas …, and this list is going on and on… So, where is CANADA in the picture? I really don't think the organizers of MUC feel that it has anything to do with 'Canada' to them it has everything to do with winning the crown, no matter what it takes. Typically latin american countries have more 'wins' and have more coaches, training, etc. I agree, there are services in Canada but ultimatley its not about Canada as much as it is about the crown. MUC doesnt promise any Canadian content, the titleholders do more appearances in other countries than in Canada and after the MU they pretty much are invisible. Is it right or fair? Who is to say....everyone in Canada will still be cheering for 'Miss Canada' come MU Maybe if Canada as a country sponsored teh pageant or gave funding to the winner like a lot of the other countries they would utilize more of Canada's resources but for now, as long as MUC is MUC we will continue to see this pattern....but at least we have winners, finalists and semi-finalists, more so than we have ever had with any other organization.
