Subject: Very cool! Thanks for posting! Just helped me solidify my views (some may disgree) but it REALLY shows the similarity between Natalie, Alice, Inga & Sam. Especially Alice & Inga look like sisters, the same cheeks/face.. and Alice & Sam look very similar facially as well.. WOW And it's funny Natalie and Alice were sent first and both did very well... Then Inga & Sam were sent (as similar choices) and NOT doing well. Lesson here maybe? Send something different!! Once a girl has done well, maybe it's time to send something totally different, and hey maybe the diversity will do well at Miss Universe, because we NEVER know what look they may be going for that year. She is different from the last four. Should we expect MUC placement every year? There are 80 contestants and only 15 spots available where 5 of those are MUO hand-picked. So, 65 girls are left in the cold. Didn't they have high expectations? Even if only half of them deserve the placement and they are beautiful and they have determination to win and have their fans supporting them, there is not enough space to fit them all in top 15. Oh, and there is only ONE winner! Should we blame the rest 79 contestants and their national directors for not winning? They were on the right track though because Shandi Finnessay & Jen Hawkins had similar looks! Shandi looked like Vanessa's older sister! That was a tough year, many beautiful girls, I think Vanessa was just too young and not experienced enough. Had she been sent to a bunch of pageant before-hand like Samantha or Alice, I think she could have done better. I think that's why I am so harsh on the latest winners because they have had TONS of experience, Sam was sent to like 4 other international pageants! She had almost every work done possible! I just expect more from beauties of canada because they have the resources! Do I think in 2007 and 2008 there were OTHER girls that could have placed in top 15 at Miss Universe YES I DO!!! I always supported our representatives and no matter who won since 2003 I have always felt and believed our girl would do well at Miss Universe.. But in 2007 and 2008 I was like OH NOOOO when I saw our winners...And I feel terrible for saying that, but I really didn't believe they stood a chance. If I felt our delegates were strong and good choices, I would still commend them for doing well. I was shocked Puerto Rico in 2008 didn't make it and Venezuela in 2004, and a few others here and there.. It does happen, I know! But Inga & Sam I was NOT in the slightest bit shocked. But like Canada's other resources, you've got to mine them. They won't come to you. The other successful smaller countries go out and recruit the most beautiful girls to compete. That's how Venezuela and Puerto Rico do it year after year. Why can't Canada's org do the same. Approach modeling agencies (legit ones - no strippers please). Hold open casting calls at universities and colleges. Work to get a stronger regional system set up. And most of all, be fair in judging. Then we'll see results. When you're in university, you're broke. And pageants cost a fortune. To ensure the numbers and caliber of girls go up in terms of entry.. means they have to reduce the entry fee alot. Or have no entry fee and on let those who of MU caliber compete. This may result in 20 girls competing instead of 60, but the quality vs quantity would make a huge difference. Think about it, all the best Model Searches in the world are run this way. Costs are not covered by the contestants but by sponsors. ...Its just a suggestion..
