This was pointed out on the NG:


Spike asks Buffy if she has come for some 'cold comfort'. The origin of the
phrase is from Shakespeare's 'King John'. The passage is particularly
appropriate for Spike (or any vampire):

''I beg cold comfort; and you are so strait
And so ungrateful you deny me that........
.........
Within me is a hell; and the the poison
Is as a fiend confin'd to tyrannize
On unreprievable condemned blood"

(Act 5 scene 7)
