This is what AngelX posted:

That would be a nice twist. The only thing is that it's similar to what Angel did when he took the test for Darla and agreed to give up his life for hers -- and then was rewarded.
I do like Angel, particularly after his epiphany. But darn it all. Everything I would like to happen for Spike and things I'd like to see him do toward Redemption -- Angel has already done them and been there.
I'm just not sure how much they are going to repeat for both of their vampires. And since Angel has his own show, he's more likely to get the better deal.
That having been said, though, both vampires have been contrasted with the women they love in their inability to walk in the sun. This was especially true with Spike -- who couldn't even mourn over Buffy's body in "The Gift" because of the sunlight -- couldn't follow after her at the end of "AfterLife" -- couldn't move toward her bed in "Normal Again."
Angel, of course, had the big scene where he had to watch Groo save the day -- and get a hug from Cordelia -- because he couldn't go into the sun (note to Angel: If you hadn't smashed the Ring of Amarra, this wouldn't be a problem)
So, they both have a similar problem. But maybe with Spike going to Africa, he's actually going to get to walk in the sun before Angel does. It's something to hope for, anyhow.
