That's sound like it matches up with a press release I read a few months ago. That, combined with the problem of making Youko a central character throughout the anime (wrote her into story lines she was originally not a part of), and the fact that since the story is still not complete, the animators don't know enough about some characters to do them justice.

Maybe I'm just optimistic, but Juuni Kokuki (which is more correct? Juuni Kokki? or Juuni Kokuki? I've seen it written both ways) is such a wonderfully complex story, both politically and mystically, that I can't imagine it not becoming an all time classic. We should all be hoping and writing fan letters to Fuyumi Ono, encouraging her to indefinately continue this saga.
Back to the topic of cliffhangers and does this story end at one... Who cares!?!?!? I was annoyed when I got to episode 42 (all that was out at the time) and read that the anime was halted indefinately. But as soon as I found this site... "who care's!" is all I can say. Novels are better than anime anyways and Harunako is doing a fabulous job of translating the novels. I only hope that Fuyumi Ono keeps writing, Harunako keeps translating, and that some day a publisher will make English language copies of the series as thorough as Harunako's.
