Subject: The Old Church in the country

I remember the Old Church
It stood right here a long time ago
all the people knew each other
and each sabbath they all would attend
A very close caring congregation
Of families we all used to know

The Pastor was kindly Ol man
And his sermons reflected his love
And people would come to his meetings
To praise God high above
His wife she was so friendly
and all us kids loved her so

We'd sing such wonderful hymns
So happy and glad to be free
Glory to God on the highest
And stories hero's and villains
all in the bible you see.
then Pastor would preach us
about love and good things that be

after the sermon we'd all have a picnic
Down by the River-gum trees
Delights of sausage rolls and cakes
and games of such wonderful fun
Jimmy an me would go fishin
And catch us some wonderful fish

But that was all a long time ago
People seem to have faded in friendship
and the Ol Pastor he sleeps in the grave
They pulled down that Ol church building
and put up a big concrete shopping mall
Now nobody knows anybody
and on Sabbath they don't gather at all

Its about the friendship I am saddest
For we all have lost it in this modern day
Families don't know other families
and the Pastor doesnt visit anyway
I long for Ol church fellowship
And the Ol fashioned religion gone away
