As children we all dream of being a hero
We fight imaginary battles to beat the foe
Many go on to do just that in their own way..

Sadly this verse is about an Australian son
One who made a terrible mistake
Now suffering gross Injustice at hands of friends

It is also about a gutless Australian Government
A Howard Government who wont protect its citizen.
I write this poem with sadness and shame..

For five years now David has been in jail with no trial..
He has been jailed by the bastion of Democracy America..
Not all Americans agree with his treatment..

David Joined the Taliban to become a freedom fighter against their enemies...
Suddenly he found himeself in the middle of Western turmoil....
Whilst trying to escape he was captured and incarcerated.

Can somebody please tell me
Why the US Military can jail someone without trial for so long...
Why they can then create charges to punish him after the fact..

And why his country Australia has deserted him
