Ralph I sure agree about the Diablo microMAX. Also about the smaller coil. With 2-independent gb pots working a backhoe operation a "snap." Set one gb to the overburden and the other gb to the bedrock.

As far as the White's Goldmasters, IMO, the II and v/sat are not near the machine as is the GM-3. However, my v/sat is "Moded" with the extended ground balance range, a slower autotune pot, two independent gb pots, and the Dean Chapman yfrequency offset. Like the microMAX, the V/sat can work well in a backhoe operation.

I like backhoe operations. The material is piled on each side of the trench as the backhoe advances. One detectorist works on each side and detects each bucket-lift as it forms a cone pile. The operator dumps the bucket alternating on each side of the trench and the detectorists can keep up. Miss very little gold this way as the lifts are thin. However, it is a "two-step" operation if detectors using the same frequency are on each side of the backhoe.

Much faster this way than dry washing. Flakes can be recovered and the trench backfilled leaving a minor scar that blends in within a year.
