Subject: Re: 12" Jimmy Sierra coil
In reply to: Chris Ralph 's message, "Calling Mr. James A. McCulloch --- MXT Coil info" on 18:51:36 04/15/03 Tue

I too have seen a lot of dates and rumours about the 12" coil "coming soon" for the MXT/DFX. It definitely sounds like it will be a DD coil as I doubt a 12" concentric would be very useful on sensitive detectors like the MXT...it would pick up too much ground mineralization. As it is, many can not effectively use the stock 9.5" concentric by many reports I have read in the forums.

The latest rumoured release date for the coil that I have read was posted on the www.findmall.com DFX forum. The fellow that posted there said in his messaage that an email he recieved from Jimmy Sierra stated that it might be in production next month.

Here's the link:

So it looks like sometime in May at the earliest.

This is one of the most anticipated coils ...in my opinion mainly because of the popularity of the MXT ,and many people want to see how much depth they can squeeze out of the MXT. It should also work on the DFX if it's similar in construction to the BigFoot and HotFoot from Jimmy Sierra.

I am also waiting to see more field test reports on the HotFoot. I would like to know which coil would be more effective for nugget shooting...the Whites 3"x6" mini DD shooter or the Jimmy Sierra HotFoot.

Does anyone here have both and have any opinions about which one would be more sensitive and deeper on tiny gold...under 1 grain in size? Also which coil do you feel has a better profile to detect in difficult rocky areas and in streams...the slightly wider but shorter 3"x6"dd ...or the slightly narrower but longer 2"x9" HotFoot?

Thanks for any feedback anyone may have.
