Since it was an early BFO I know it was a whopper you found. The later Garrett "Master Hunters," circa about 1976 were pretty decent BFO's. A friend, Leonard Phye, was very capable with one and made some nice finds, not nuggets however.

Leonard and I did surprisingly well using his early Garrett ADS in the calibrated TR sampling mode on a gold mine dump near Lane City, Nevada, back about 1979.

The dump is now gone. I think it may have been shipped by a leaser. When gold jumped to about $500 there was a lot of action. Also when silver spiked up to plus $10.
