Subject: Re: Garrett Infinium Accessory Coils--- Thanks Steve for the info!
In reply to: Steve Herschbach 's message, "Garrett Infinium Accessory Coils Availability" on 14:14:50 03/28/03 Fri

I really appreciate learning on the forums about your (and also Charlie's) successful tests. On the Garrett forum Charlie "let the cat out of the bag" by mentioning: "two coils from Garrett. the 5x10 is due to be released now."

Unfortunately, this info is a little late for me to add to my 7th edition update. However, I did have room to add line(which I could squeeze w/o a major layout evision) regarding the currently produced LS 10-inch DD coil from Australia. (A$380 plus freight)

With the five Garrett Metal Detector coil options you list, plus the Australian LS coil, you give great news. Question: what about the "5x10" and other coil mentioned by Charlie? Maybe this will make 7 instead of 5 Garrett Metal Detector searchcoils. Is anyone else testing LS coils that have not reported in? Such as any independent coil manufacturers?

However, you mention to the effect that you are "not holding my breath" regarding the Infiniums Monoloop coils. With the Minelab SD/GP it is the monoloops that seem (to me) to be a better choice over a DD in the mineralized areas within the cordillera (i.e. western Nevada).

In depth, pinpointing and sensitivity, SD/GP Monoloops seem (to me) to have an edge over the DD's; unless the mineralization is unusually severe. If this is true with the Infinium, I sure would like to see a 12x24-inch open spoke Mono weighing about 2-pounds. Another choice could be an 18-inch circular, both Mono as well as DD.
