....is that only after getting some "hands on" with the machines can anyone really form a true "personal bias" that has any substance behind it. Otherwise, it's nothing but conjecture bias with no basis in forming such bias. I don't personally have any financial affiliation with any manufacturer, so I tend to be more pragmatic in how I look at machines than perhaps others who sell them for a living or secondary income.

We all have a personal bias for one make or model of machine over another. That's simply a "preference bias" I suppose you could call it. I've owned Garretts, Whites, Tesoro, Fisher, Troy, Minelab, Relco, Goldak, Gardiner, even a Heathkit (grin) and many others through the years, with no particular following of any single brand or model, and still own a couple of Tesoros, a Whites GM-3, and the X-5. Everything else has since been disposed of in preference (bias) of what works best for me in my own hunting conditions.
