Hi Seeker,

From some of the information I have received from Steve my guess is there are many places in Alaska where ground balance isn't really needed on a PI. As such, it is quite possible you will do quite well with your Goldquest.

Of all the places I have hunted, only those having a fair amount of clay type material have given me much problem. It doesn't take much clay or clay type material to have some affect though.

Active creek beds are fun to hunt especially if there are a lot of hotrocks. A PI is extremely quiet normally and I have found little need for any form of GB in them.

A GB off feature might be a good idea on some detectors.
