Bill-- There are areas in the cordillera where VLF-types just flounder, and even a few where the PI-types are "pressed." Find one and get out and swing a PI-type (I am not brand loyal; just which one is not critical). Just get out on the pediment/or alluvial-fan and go for it. Find one, then grid for the others. Strictly hit and miss. PI-types are different than the VLF-type; it is a new world.

The next issue of ICMJ will have an article on just this type of hit or miss prospecting by a true "fulltimer." He keeps his finds safe--- I got to store the gold pictured in a safty vault at the motel.
