Well said Goldbug Ron. As for me when the ground gets tough I reach for my 17000 and use the 6-inch circular DD shoe in 32kHz. If it lets me down; then I reach for a VLF-type such as the 2200 or Infinium. However, the LST is not a bad choice in the "alkali" mode in more "mineralized" ground.

However, to be fair to the Gold Strike; I do think it has potentual and am still learning it.
