I'm strictly interested in "gold machines" as they relate to "handling" volcanic epithermal type gold-bearing veins containing detectable-size free-milling gold and any associated residual placers.

While the PI-type technology is now being developed in this direction, as Ralph points out we can look for continuing advancements being made in VLF-type detectors and in search coil design.

I know I'm preaching to the choir. However developing, and then being able to use any detector to search for gold will become only academic if the BLM and FS continue to withdraw massive areas. I hope all of you that are reading this post will continue to support the ICMJ as they are now the best voice for small miners and prospectors. So be sure to visit their webpage regarding issues that are slowly restricting us to only being able to coin-hunt "Aunt Minnie's" couch and to gold detect for the ring that "Uncle John" may have lost in the back yard.
