Subject: Magnetic Anomalies and Iron Descrimination

Hi.

I'm new to detecting gold and have recently purchased a minelab XT18000 - used. I'm used to using a dredge for mining gold, but have been having fun learning to hunt by other means.

Judging from my experience (granted limited experience), it appears that the iron reject feature leaves alot to be desired.

I'm wondering if there are any detector models out there that scan magnetic anomalies in tandem with the coil. It seems to me that if the detector had this ability, it could then indicate to the user whether or not a given target is iron. If memory serves, iron (and nickel) create a magnetic anomaly, while all other metals do not.
