Dave, if I have the correct mental image of the scene, the alluvium deposits above the current creek bed would be considered "bench placers," an still thus alluvial in nature. Eluvial placers are most correctly hillside placers, wherein the AU has weathered out of the host rock. BUT.... to be technically accurate, even eluvial deposits could have alluvial origins, as in re-sorted, and later weathered, auriferous materials. Hope to see the pics! HH Jim
