Hi Digger and All

If the quartz is pigmented and permiated with stain . Not much will do any great results . A freind of mine has used acidic(sp?) acid in a week solution for a week or soo and it took away alot of the surface staining . You might also let it sit in white vinigar for awhile and see if that helps any . Vinigar is a very mild acid and won't hurt the quartz . Also you might try some local jewelery stores to see if they can put it in an ultrasonic cleaner with some MAGIC GREEN cleaner !!! I don't know what the active ingredient is in that stuff but it works pretty good . It might help to soak it in the stuff for a couple days then use the ultrasonic cleaner on it for a 1/2 hour or so . Most jewlery stores will have ultrasonic cleaners !! That's what they use to fine clean jewelery . If you resort to HF be very careful and be prepared for a transformation in the look of the quartz . From glassy to a white chalky powdery looking stuff !!!! Happy Huntin John B.
