Subject: GMT - SAT ?
In reply to: Jim McCulloch 's message, "Some thoughts on GMT performance" on 09:13:50 03/29/02 Fri

Hi Jim,

Unless White's did something dramatically different with the SAT on the GMT, you should actually be getting more stable operation from the SAT at the lower settings, as well as better depth and sensitivity.

The only time I ever crank up the SAT is when the ground conditions become very inconsistent, changine drasticly from one point to the next within a single swing of the coil. The higher the SAT (on the earlier GMs anyway), the greater the LOSS of depth and sensitivity.

Just a thought....

Ralph
