Subject: Thank You

I thank all of you who have responded by emailing me regarding my earlier post about Willie Merrell. Willie's booklet, "Those Elusive Gold Nuggets," was one of the early pathfinders on nugget hunting. It covers diverse subjects such as locating black sand deposits metal/mineral identification, and research.

I do have Willies address for those that wish to send a card to the family. His address is on page 184 in the 1992 edition of VOL 3; or e-mail me and I'll send you the family address.

Changing the subject, but another series of booklets by both Jim McCullach and Larry Sallee are in the 1996 edition of VOL 3, on page 261. All (and any later series) of these booklets, by Jim McC and Larry are invaluable resources for anyone who swings a detector looking for gold, both eluvial and alluvial.

There are still overlooked lesser known fringe areas outside the perimeter of the heavily pounded gold fields. Research is now the key; and more true than ever; "Silence is GOLDen; don't show your "poke."

I will give one thought; out in the 'eluvial' desert areas seek the "clip zones" from later post-Tertiary drainage cutting across an unknown "'Ancient'" channel.'" (George E. in Jo'burg is hot on this trail-- and writing a booklet on 'how to' and I wish him success!)

The 'alluvial' gold from a clip zone can be rounded and flattened and more fine. (This is a specific hint to Gene, Erich, and Randy and any also any others out seeking 'for those eluvial gold nuggets.')
