Steve, I have no doubt whatsoever that the MDD will be a "killer" coil for it's intended use. One of the reasons that I prefer the HF over the standard DD is that the HF screams on those little bits that the standard DD either ignores, or gives a faint response to. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my shipment of MDD's (or whatever else it will be called; when queried, I suggested it be called the "Shooter" coil). My first course of action will be to compare it to the HF. I know for a fact that the GMT gets MUCH more depth at a gain setting of 8, then it does at the "preset" setting of 7.5, and, that in my soil, 7.5 is the max I can use with the standard DD. (Sometimes I can't even use that) SO.... MAYBE the MDD, with gain of 8, will get close to the depth, on bigger nuggets, of the standard DD with gain set at 7.5, AND, I will get the added added advantge of greater sensitivity to small pieces, too. If there is little or no difference in performance between the HF and the MDD, and the MDD is indeed significantly less prone to false signal, then I will happily switch. By the way, is Steve "Houston" the same guy as Steve "Howard?" HH Jim
