I happened to run into Jack Leuf while he was testing it for W&E Treasures and even held the camera for him as photographer. He let me use the uMax and I liked it so well I bought one from Hal. I was impressed by its stability in the red dirt in the area we were hunting.

The two toggle switchable ground balances make it versatile and it is simple to use. Also, it breaks down into a small package and I have hiked into a remote-- for me-- area with it about a mile and a half miles up a twisty rock-strewn wash which has been overlooked by others and have found small flakes here. The standard coil is very stable and works well by being nosed into the brush.

I understand it was not popular and Tesoro discontinued its manufacture.
