O.T., I have "retired" my DD in favor of the Hot Foot. At comparable gain settings on my GMT, the Hot Foot gets 90% as much depth as the DD, probably due to the Hot Foot being 9 inches long, and the DD 10 inches long. The Hot Foot is MUCH lighter, more maneuverable, and better able to be used in rough ground. The Hot Foot is FAR more sensitive to small nuggets than is the DD. It is SO hot that a couple of users have told me that it is somewhat "noisey" in really hot ground, but as always, under those circumstances, a reduction in power ususally restores stability. Here in the Mojave it works great. It is somewhat more prone to false signalling when banged against rocks than is the DD, but we shouldn't be using our searchcoils as golf clubs anyway. (grin)
