Subject: What day is it?

The lion is back in the hospital again. We are not having a good time here. One little oncology floor assistant director is going through a bit of re-education after she put betadine on Laf and he ended up in the ER last week. I don't know where the lady is, but I have not seen her on the 5th floor. She is either doing an extremely good job of avoiding us or she's been moved, removed or who knows what? TOUGH! She made a mistake...one that could have caused his death and rather than apologizing and doing what needed to be done, she chose to piddle. She didn't want to disturb other medical professionals by calling code and instead, wasted valuable time asking why he was reacting to betadine. There's a good chance the lady has lost her position, been demoted or transferred because of her actions. I hope this was a wakeup call for her. If not, then I would not want to be a patient she is responsible for...wherever she is now.

Laf did make it through that ordeal and we got back home again, but it was followed by 3 more days of chemo and a growth hormone shot which had to be given 24 hrs after the last chemo. So much for breakfast out and the Jim Carrey movie we wanted to see on Father's Day. He hasn't been able to keep any food down and when the doctor saw him on his follow-up visit Tuesday, he took no time at all in evaluating and admitted him to the hospital immediately. Which is where he is now. If you would like to call him, give me a buzz on an IM and I will give you the phone number. Ayo is extremely appreciative of the fact that I showed up home, but I may not be able to get back to the hospital until Friday, so I'm sure the lion would love to hear from all of you. When I left him tonight, he was barely aware as they'd given him phenergan to relieve the nausea. The male nurse had just found on his third attempt a live vein for IV. I will be around tomorrow (Thursday) so feel free to get ahold of me then. Ayo's been lonely, so right now I'm having a problem keeping him off my lap long enough to type this. You all need to know, however, that even with all of this going on, the lion is keeping the 5th floor busy laughing. He keeps them all guessing and gales of laughter can be heard unexpectedly at any time. I love you, lion. Don't go anywhere while I'm gone, k?
