A belated wish that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and used it to contemplate the things for which they ought to be thankful.
Those who have visited the hovel that houses the Lion's Lair on Poverty Heights here in Smalltown, Georgia, U. S. of friggin' A. know that I collect, among other things, butterflies, pink flamingoes, pigs and stuffed lions. Not one of them could have been more stuffed than I was after Turkey Day. Secretary Sage and I combined forces to prepare 20 times more food than either of us could eat in a fortnight. She was masterful in her culinary arts and I could only roll around and belch most of the evening and well into the night. I think I may even have contracted a cold or flu from the blankets fluttering in the self-satisfied breezes as I slept. I awoke to the sounds of Ayo, the cat and resident dungeon master, gagging uncontrollably as he entered my combination bedroom-playground. Gad! I do love that Sweet Potato Delight no matter that it is classified a secondary weapon of mass destruction and I must post numerous prominent warning signs about open flames or articles that may cause a spark being prohibited at the entrance to the bedroom-playground. I think there was even a special clause added to the Geneva Convention that deals specifically with Sweet Potato Delight.
I had the usual morning-after breakfast of cornbread dressing with milk and sugar and can hardly wait for that drumstick sub sandwich for lunch. I really hope I don't chip another tooth on the bone as I did last year. We may have even out-foxed Ayo. A short while ago I caught Secretary Sage spooning Turkey Day leftovers into his used catfood cans. She promises a real treat for supper tonight - a green bean and cranberry sauce cassserole dish that she claims has been a tradition with all of her family members for centuries. Of course, I had to observe that all of those who ate it and created the tradition are now pretty much dead and ask if there was a correlation there that should concern me. I don't guess the wind chill factor on the patio will be that bad around supper time tonight.
I know that Z-dr attempted a culinary tour-de-force with his turkey this year. Perhaps he will share those events and the results with us here. How about the rest of you guys? Do any of us have great dining disaster tales to share?
