"culinary tour-de-force"

Nicely put Sir Lion, i just wish the main dish turned out as nice.
The last 5 years we have spent Turkey day at our humble retreat way up in the mountains of Western Md in Winter Wonderland Central.
This year as we speak including Turkey day we were unable to do so because we are having a new not so humble place being built where the old humble place once stood.
So we had a delema, go out for Thanksgiving Dinner or Cook here.
Myself, being of no small stature (girthly speaking) decided that i would cook dinner here at home. Mind you, being of a girthy nature (big as a house) I aint a bad cook...no..not at all but this year however, after being persuaded by others we decided to have a Turkey Day Experimental Dinner.
I went out and bought one of these Deep Frying Turkey cookers we had been hearing so much about. After purchasing the cooker, the peanut oil to go in it, refilling the propane tank and the turkey itself i had spent damn near a hundred bucks just for the turkey portion of the dinner. Mind you i am an uncomplicated person, the wife was not feeling good and turkey sandwiches and mashed potatos are a damn fine dinner to me..and thats all i fixed!
I followed the instructions for a properly deep fried turkey to the letter. Grease at 325 degrees, fry for 3.5 mintues per pound which figured out to 51 minutes.
When i took the bird out of the frier is was a delicious golden brown...and smelled like a french fry.
People had told me that a frier cooks in the juices..they forgot to mention that those juices were blood cause the bird wasnt done, not to our liking at least.
My wife had 2 bites of dark meat then made a move to the fridge to get the pie she made the day before, oh yeah, she had some mashed potatos too. I had 2 turkey sandwiches, cut off some breast meat for further nuking later and threw the rest of the bird in the trash...still hot!
Moral of the story, when in doubt...go out! and deep fried turkey sucks..the experiment failed!!!
