- I have started an Etsy shop to sell digital custom (hand drawn) Irish dance illustrations ā bit of a shameless plug, but please do check it out !1 -- Garden of Daisies Art, Thu, Nov 20 2025, 23:03:13"
I have decided to start an Etsy shop for custom hand drawn illustrations ā these are available via digital download within 72 hours of an order being placed.
Iāve only just āopenedā it, so there will be more options more to come (hopefully) than what is currently listed. And I would appreciate any support (but the monetary kind is most appreciated hehe ;) )
I am a retired dancer myself, so happy to work with you so the outcome is meaningful and just what you want.
Also, I am new to selling my art (Iāve only ever gifted it in the past), so if you have feedback (feedback is always welcome) about the shop or the art, please be kind/gentle. Please note, I am still putting everything together, so I hope the shopfront and insta page will only get better in time ā”Ģā :)
Anyhoo:

- Except they are on their solo dresses not the team dresses, so it is most certainly against the rules now set by the clrg (NT) -- š¤, Sun, Oct 05 2025, 9:17:26"
- If on solo dresses then asper CLRG rules as of September 2025, dancers can either change their costume before dancing or if this is not possible, they will be allowed to dance but not be marked. Anyone dancing with identifiers, should receive all 0's, if this did not happen and dancer placed, then appeals should be made by dancers who placed below them. (NT) -- -, Sun, Oct 05 2025, 13:06:52"
- This did not happen, they were scored and several were very highly placed (NT) -- Not fair on those that had their dresses fixed to compete, Mon, Oct 06 2025, 9:50:16"
- The enforcement of this rule was decided to be "self enforcement", because no one could fully define an identifier. Judges were explicitly instructed to NOT factor this into marking. (NT) -- per last CLRG meeting, Tue, Oct 07 2025, 15:45:54"
- whats the point of the rule then, its ridiculous. lots of dancers had changes made to their dress to comply but you actually dont have too (NT) -- so unfair, make the rules and enforce them, Tue, Oct 07 2025, 18:50:05"
- What is self enforcement? Does that mean organisers/marshalling are supposed to enforce it or what? (NT) -- -, Tue, Oct 07 2025, 20:29:59"
- Asper CLRG "Solo costumes (including headwear) worn in championship competitions must not include any āIdentifying Designsā. Dancers breaching this rule must be instructed to either amend or replace the costume in order to appear on stage to compete. Dancers who are unable to amend or replace the costume may still participate but will not be scored. Effective 01 September 2025" if AIDA won't enforce this rule at national level, what other rules are ok to break? - AIDA DO BETTER -- Late entries, Thu, Sep 11 2025, 19:18:37"
AIDA HAS DENIED ANY AND ALL LATE ENTRIES FOR SOLO DANCERS! Multiple people this year will not be allowed to dance due to the AIDA denying these dancers. Things happen, personal circumstances, work commitments and more and for THE FIRST YEAR EVER they havenāt allowed people to enter late. AIDA YOUR A DISGRACE! Spread the word and hold them accountable! LET THESE DANCERS DANCE!

- I agree it's unfortunate that some dancers missed the closing date. However the rules in syllabus clearly state there are no late entries. Are we just going to start picking and choosing which rules we apply? (NT) -- Did their teachers not send reminders?, Tue, Sep 16 2025, 3:14:14"

- I surely hope that you are not in charge one day. How mean. Things happen in life. Things get in the way. Yes, the rules weren't followed, but come on. Turn people away? What sport is this? Doesn't sound like inclusiveness and kindness to me. I hope your dancer gets the place they deserve from hard work, not because people haven't been able to come. I hope you change your attitude about life in general. It's cool to be kind. (NT) -- ., Sat, Sep 20 2025, 13:55:15"
- "Yes, the rules weren't followed, but come on" - that is a very dangerous precedent to set, especially after recent events in Irish dancing. Are we really going to start picking and choosing? What rules shall we break next for the sake of kindness? Can I dance in a different age group? Be a special case to dance the opposite syllabus? Be a special case to have my number slipped under a door? (NT) -- Rules are RULES. You can't have it both ways, Sat, Sep 20 2025, 15:59:33"
- Usually when rules arenāt followed, consequences happen. In this situation, your child doesnāt dance because you failed to get organised. I donāt think AIDA would have given people a week to submit their entries, stuff happens yes but itās got nothing to do with not being āinclusiveā. (NT) -- Itās a community āsportā yes, but rules are in place for a reason to meet deadlines for AIDA to do what they need to do to put on a National Championship event., Sun, Sep 21 2025, 21:30:21"
- What competition are we all alluding to? Surely people are not just entering Nationals now, when it's a week away? Isn't it the teachers responsibility to enter dancers, not up to the parent? (NT) -- -, Sun, Sep 21 2025, 8:45:38"
- AIDA DO BETTER -- Bugsy, Tue, Sep 23 2025, 11:09:32"
- Omg, this is so ridiculous, it's Irish dancing people, not the federal election, it's a kids sport, I can't believe that people would want kids to miss out, who even cares, I would think with the low numbers and the whole organisation pretty much going broke that any entry is a good entry just for the $$'s. It's not cheating, it's not illegal, it's kids dancing at a comp they have been training for all year. I don't have a dancer going, but come on. I know it's important to you but in the whole scheme of things, no one cares! I agree, let them dance. (NT) -- No name, Tue, Sep 23 2025, 18:53:14"

Dance Mum here...that was not the only issue... With the Dancing Presentations..I am astounded that people cannot sit and listen to the MC delivering the results from the dance rounds. I have attended many award ceremonies with other sports but Irish Dancing in Australia has to be the worst! No respect! 𤦠People constantly talk no matter how many times the MC tells them shoosh! 𤫠It's unbelievable! Shoosh means 𤫠adults acting like children..Many of us travel from far, spend money to attend and want to enjoy the awards ..but we can't hear a damn thing from all the chatter! This has to stop..if you want to continuously talk.... stay outside!

- I have no idea what school you are talking about but, dancers aren't "poached", they move of their/their parents own accord. It's a huge decision to move schools, especially with the knowledge that people like the OP will come to message boards like this to discuss it, even though it's none of their business. As above, unfollow and move on, live your best life and don't try and bring others down for the choices they make to live their own best life. (NT) -- No name, Thu, May 08 2025, 18:30:40"
- While very few schools actively poach dancers, the culture around transfers has changed. It used to be that new dance schools would start out with beginner dancers, teach them the foundations of Irish dance and train them up into the open competitions. There was respect for other teachers in the branch and a little more discernment about accepting transfers. (NT) -- -, Fri, May 09 2025, 8:43:32"
- I think changed for the better, dancers should be able to move schools if their current school no longer suits their needs. It was always seen as a huge problem if a dancer transferred, dancers would leave dancing all together rather than go to a new school, teachers understandably took it personally and it was seen as things would from then on be difficult for the dancer, especially if the teacher was also an AD. At the end of the day, it's just dancing and if people want to try a new school, then let them, why would a TC want an unhappy family in their school, it's better for all if they (NT) -- move on and hopefully find a better fit., Fri, May 09 2025, 14:45:00"

It's always the younger dancers whose sections and presentations don't finish until around 9pm (like the last two nights at the AIO) yet the seniors today are all finished up at around 6pm. Why is it planned this way? You know that numbers are big in the younger sections so carry some over to the next day. As the parent of a younger dancer it's so hard trying to keep them awake, fed and happy so late at night. Surely you could mix it up and do the younger sections in the mornings followed by their presentations, then do the older sections in the afternoons with their presentations in the evenings. They don't always have to run in age order!

- Are these prices a joke? -- No name, Wed, Jun 18 2025, 9:45:20"
I have just seen a dress for sale on facebook where the seller quotes the original price paid as £3,210. Dress is only 6 months old and they are selling for £1,800. But the original price converts to $AUD6,660 ! Who is paying these ridiculous prices, it's like the dressmakers are literally having a laugh to see how stupid parents are! If they sell at £1800, thats a $AUD3,735 loss after 6 months. And they wonder why numbers are dropping (in addition to other events/scandals obv). I know there's cheaper used, but people are still buying new, it boggles my mind that people are happy to pay this amount and lose such vast amounts of money for a kids hobby. Sorry for the rant, just had to get it off my chest.

- Topic for discussion - prizes -- What is your opinion?, Fri, Feb 21 2025, 11:06:06"
In my opinion, too many prizes are handed out in Irish dancing, with too much emphasis on size and appearance. Many other sports only hand out prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd, some only winners and runners up. They also need to qualify for nationals (quality over quantity of entries). We cater for all different levels of dancers with our grades. Therefore I donāt think championship awards etc. are necessary. In years to come what happens to all the trophies? They end up stored in boxes/tubs or in landfill. Medals are so much easier to store or display. Would you support a move towards national medals rather than trophies as a starting point? Would you support abolishing awards to ALL dancers who enter a championship level feis? Less money spent on award should in turn decrease entry fees. I know of adults in other sports who receive medal on podium, have photos taken, then donate the medal back to organisers.

- Transfers - Interstate -- idancer0911, Fri, Jan 03 2025, 16:04:00"
Has anyone done an interstate transfer and is it treated the same as transferring to another school within the same state? (Heard of this 6 months non compete rule?)
If you cease dancing for a few months and return to the same school - but did not register with another school during that break, is there any wait period before you can compete again? Or if you donāt complete the form at the start of the year do you just miss out?
If anyone has some insight about this that would be much appreciated!

- You would be best to contact AIDA or just ask your current teacher, but my understanding is that any change of school no matter where, you serve the 6 month ban. If you just stop dancing and then go back to your current school, there would be no ban. Don't know what form you are referring to, but you can join a school at any time during the year. (NT) -- -, Sat, Jan 04 2025, 7:42:43"
- Regardless of it being an intestate transfer the rules are the same. 6 month ban still applies. (NT) -- But if you don't sign the transfer form you can't compete for your new school. Ban starts approx 3 days after the transfer form is signed., Sat, Jan 04 2025, 7:43:27"
- The transfer form is completed at the first class you attend at your new school. (NT) -- Then the ban then begins a few days later (when the form is recieved by the State secretary). There is no certain time of the year for this. It can happen anytime you choose to begin at a new school., Sat, Jan 04 2025, 7:50:08"
- If you are only moving interstate for a few months then don't transfer! (NT) -- Just practice your current school's steps and see if you can do a few online classes with them to stay on track. Otherwise you could end up doing 2 x 6 month bans back to back., Sat, Jan 04 2025, 7:52:53"
- Prior to 2020 of you moved interstate the ban would not apply. (NT) -- But it is now applied to everyone, even if you move overseas or your school closes down., Sat, Jan 04 2025, 7:55:54"

- this is definitely a ban not a restyling period, DD moved and had her new steps with her new school in just 3 weeks, 6 months is ridiculous should be reduced, 2 months is plenty of time to 'restyle" (NT) -- ban the cheats not the dancers, Wed, Jan 08 2025, 16:13:56"

Anything can happen at Nationals I know, thereās no guarantee because itās subjective. However, thereās so many ways cheating occurs now, you have schools constantly posting some dancers in full costume announcing their achievements regularly, some teachers are networking with judges overseas and plugging their star dancers, you have schools affiliated with overseas teachers and adjudicators. I donāt have anyone dancing anymore but feel this is so unfair on the dancers. They all deserve to be judged fairly and not have some other schools doing and receiving favours.
Watching on feis tv it seems obvious that this is happening, this is an expensive sport now and the cheating & cost is showing in our very low numbers

- Drunk Senior Men -- Fellow Senior Dancer, Tue, Oct 08 2024, 20:31:29"
Very disappointed to have discovered that the Senior Menās Champions were drunk during their presentations and were seated at the bar for most of the afternoon.
And when the FeisTv interviews started, one dropped the f bomb, not only in front of many young dancers that look up to them but many around the world watching.
What example are the senior dancers setting for the next generation, and what happened to the humble and respectful nature of senior men prior.
If I were their teachers, I would of made them hand in their trophies.

- Definitely agree with people saying you should change schools. I was previously at a school with a teacher who yelled at me, insulted my intelligence and told a 12 year old to lose weight. She ruined my passion for dance and I was dreading going to class and leaving in tears. I moved schools a few years ago and my teacher at my current school is really encouraging, caring and lovely and the culture at the school reflects that. It doesn't have to be this way so I really recommend finding a school where you're treated with respect and care (just be aware of the 6 month feis ban).
