After dancing for more than 20+ years, I definitely have an overload of trophies with not much storage to place them. The trophies and medals I have collected, I’ve started donating to local schools for upcoming comps. I know a few schools collect donations of these to repurpose them, which I find amazing. Whilst I have donated almost all of these, I’ve decided to keep all of my state and national prizes, such as medals, trophies, and sashes. To me they’re sentimental, and something I’d like to hold on to.

I think the amount of prizes given at local competitions can be over the top, but at nationals, I do believe all recalled at least should receive a price. These are massive comps and to even just recall can be an achievement to so many. I do think it would be nice if Aida did accept national prizes to be given back if not wanted.

Love that you raised this!!

  • Do that at a feis and you lose half of your entries. (NT) -- My DD doesn't do every feis anymore. She chooses based on the prizes they typically offer., Fri, Feb 21 2025, 14:03:39"
  • Your daughter only dances for prizes? Not the love of competing and performing on a stage? Or for stage practice? (NT) -- Weird, Fri, Feb 21 2025, 22:41:58"
