The sun was shining, the breeze was blowing, the ocean was sparkling--all in all, it was a beautiful day. If only that mattered. With sullen steps, the colt made his first impressions on the pristine beach. The blazing sun beat down on the sands, increasing the heat that radiated along the shoreline. The same rays of golden light also served to illuminate the young stag's pelt, burnishing the bay hide into a gleaming expanse of molten fire. Legs that seemed impossibly long for such a narrow body lifted in a surly manner, grumpily placing each ebony hoof upon the sands. The entire demeanor of the Akhal-teke colt seemed stormy, a mass of anger, resentment, and general melancholy all rolled into one. The ray of sunshine made his way to where the surf curled upon the dampened sand, every furling wave leaving behind a wavering line of foamy lace. It was here that his mood changed subtly. Lost were the angry eyes and the tense posture, gone was the stiff gait and the unchecked glares. Here the colt was in awe of Nature's beauty, his own importance diminished by the vastness of the blue-green ocean. Quietly, the colt settled into a three-legged stance, his gaze lingering on the distant horizon.
