Subject: Mario Lanza

I am a now a professional opera singer and like many other singers have said, it was the voice of Mario that inspired them.It was through my beloved mother that I was first introduced to that amazing voice.
I was back in my native Australia last year and was lecturing on opera to school children who were not particularly interested so I played for them Mario singing 'Che gelida manina'. It almost brought one young girl to tears and they were awestruck! I cannot think of another singer who could do that. My only wish is that I could have heard him live. There have been many great voices but Mario's was something else!!!
