Wow...I am impressed with your post. I grew up listening to Mario Lanza. My dad has studied voice for many years and loves to sing. He was a member of the Dallas Symphony Chorus for 12 yrs and was in the Dallas Met Opera chorus for two seasons. Pretty good for someone that never pusued it as more than a hobby.

I am now 41 and about to enter into Stephen f Austin state University next week. I will be a junior Music Ed major. I have always wanted to sing like Mario. I have only studied voice for two years but have natural ability and progressed quickly. I am a 1st Tenor and my voice teacher has vocalized me to a D above High C. I am a Spinto tenor as well.

I would really love to pursue a career in Opera, but I really think I am too old to really start such a difficult journey. Now I am content to teach and find small opportunities to perform.

Every time I hear Mario sing, his voice just goes through me. I have heard many great tenors, but there was truly something special about Mario.
