Subject: Week Nineteen: 23 Miles!

I did a 23-mile run this weekend! I never thought I'd be saying that in my life.

It was a very good run, mostly because I had no injuries to suffer through, and the weather was cool and cloudy for most of the run. It made such a huge difference. My spirit was high throughout the run, and, although I was tired at the end, but it was a good, worn-out tired. Definitely a huge sense of accomplishment.

This run was very good for my confidence, because I'm now positive that I can run 26 miles. The only thing I'm still a bit shaky on is the timing. I'm still pretty nervous about reaching the 14th Street Bridge before it reopens.

We have one long training run left, and that will be a full 26-mile run in two weeks. Although I was nervous about the 23-miler, I feel really good about doing 26 miles. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Next week there's just a short 8-mile recovery run and the following week there's a 10-mile recovery run. If I don't check in for those, I'll report back after the 26-miler.
