Subject: In the hospital

Late Morning In the hospital

We pulled into the hospital parking lot and the paramedics jumped out. They opened the huge back doors and rolled the strechers down the ramp and into the emergency entrance. We were greeted by a team of doctors already there. They all start talking really fast and say words I didn't reconize. A kindly, balding man escorts us to thelobby and promises us he'll be right out with news.
"Oh, Holly, I'm so sorry." Jordan says, his voice wavering
"Jordan, it's not your fault. Hannah just fell out. Don't blame yourself." I said and started crying, just mentioning Hannah's name.
"But if I hadn't pushed her so high--"
"You didn't know. I don't blame you."
"Look, here come's a doctor." I said, changing the topic. It was the balding man we had seen earlier.
"Well, she has a few ribs fractured and her arm is broken. But nothing that can't be fixed. She will need to stay overnight. She is having surgery right now to try and repair the fractured ribs. It will probably be finished in the next hour. I would suggest going down to the cafeteria until then, because we will be able to provide with no other information until then."
"Thank you," Jordan and I said in unison as the doctor stood up and left.
"You're welcome" he said over his shoulder as her exited the lobby.
We wandered around the cafeteria until about 5 minutes to 2. Then we went back in the lobby, and a few minutes later, the balding doctor, named Doctor Edward, we later learned, came up to us.
"The surgery went exceptionally well, and we were able to repair most of the ribs. We have adjusted the bones in Hannah's arm to their proper place, and have casted it. You can see her now."

Love,
Holly

We walked in room 203 and and over to Hannah's bed. I gasped at the site. Her arm was in a purple cast, and she was wired up. They had a special brace around her stomach, and she was sleeping. She heard the squeaking of Jordan's shoes on the floor and opened her eyes.
"Momma? Daddy?" she said sleepily.
I walked over and took her hand.
"We're here, baby," I said as Jordan walked over and put his arms around my shoulders.
"What happened?" Hannah asked groggily.
"You fell out of the swing, an ambulance came, and they put this cast on your arm."
"Can you stay wit me tanight?"
"Of course baby."
So we stayed all night, sleeping on the comfortable couches provided on either side of the room.
The next morning, I woke up and Jordan was holding Hannah.
"I think I might just stay here forever. Those couches are pretty comfortable,'' he said, joking around with Hannah.
"But you can't stay!'' Hannah said "you've gotta come home and take care of mommy!" He laughed. I got up and came over to where Jordan was sitting. Hannah reached for me and I took her. I started humming, and soon she fell asleep. I set her gently down on the couch and went to get Jordan and I breakfast from the cafeteteria. I returned with bananas, orange juice, cereal, fruit, and bagels. Hannah was still sleeping, so we noth helped ourselves. After eating, the nurse came in and checked Hannah's blood pressure, heartrate, oxygen level, and a bunch of other stuff. We left a while later, after Jordan had sung Hannah to sleep.

Love,
Holly
