Another part of Grant's sermon which disturbed me is:

"All of this is hard, but still we
must seek to give voice to that which causes division
between us, to remove the barriers that keep us from
being brothers and sisters."

Give a voice to those things that divide? What sense
does this make? If you give a voice to those things
that divide you, those things will only divide you
further. You cannot remove barriers, if you give a
voice to those barriers, and allow them to be more
prevalent. Such an idea of giving a voice is rather
ridiculous.

If a person really wants to remove barriers, he must
work at silencing those things that divide, even to
the point where those things have been eliminated.

Sorry can't agree. If you and I have a problem, and neither of us ever mention it, we will never advance into a better relationship. It will be like an inflamed wound infecting everything. Sometimes a source of infection has to be lanced so that the wound can heal.

Grant is simply saying that he realizes the damage that was done. It is necessary to acknowledge past wrongs in order to obtain forgiveness and get beyond them.
