Well I have got back to work on my bait, Been working on it for over a year. And its still not ready.
So I may have to buy a 5 gallon bucket of cheeze. and start over using it.
Will let you know when its done, And how many fish I catch off it.
Also will be fixing up 8 new jumper lines with 10/0 hooks on it. Will bait it with bream and fish for Big Flatheads in the spring.
Freezer is about empty and need to stock back up with them/.

i have never had any luck with stink bait. i usually use skipjack or shad for cats. when i can't get those i will use chicken breast but usually only catch small ones on chicken. i try to catch my shad and skip jack in the spring and freeze enough for the summer.i have always froze them whole but this year i think i am going to chop them up and dump them in a tub mix everything up then scoop out bag fulls and freeze it that way

I also freeze bait have been doing it for over 30 years.
And the big shipjack I cut into bait size and freeze. the little skipjack are used as one bait. unfer 8" long.

But this bait catchs lots of fish, And is not a stink bait. Its cheeze and a little oil soak that up with foam cut to the size you need for bait.
Its a trot line bait. But will and did work on a rod and reel/
tryed one piece today and caught one fish.
Was sauger fishing, so only used the one piece of bait.
2 sauger, 1 drum, And one strip.

The sauger are just getting started here. Water temp is 59 degrees. So it needs to drop a few more degrees. And they will start feeding good.
Let me guess, He is catching them on crankbaits?
I will take sauger over bass anyday. The sauger are some fine eating. Had some tonight.

you are right on the crank bait but he has caught them all summer though. he lives to far away for me to go get them. i love to eat sauger. he wouldn't clean a fish if he was starving. he just loves to catch and release. he has caught some 40 pound cats on crank baits also. i recon his oddest and biggest was a 57# big head carp he snagged on a crank bait down your way last fall. he tells me those things will jump right in the boat with you.

Now that is cuss words. I hope its years before we get those thing.. Big headed carp. There on the MS river. But have not heard about them being here at Pickwick yet. but I bet they will be there soon. as all they have to do is get through one dam in there here.

I love the sauger, I would love to be able to put about 200 in the freezer.. LOL

HE CAUGHT THE BIG HEAD ON THE OHIO BUT I UNDERSTOOD HE WAS RIGHT NEAR PICKWICK. ONE DAY DURING THE TOURNAMENT HE SAID HE FISHED TO WHERE HE COULD SEE PICKWICK DAM.
HE IS ONE OF THOSE THAT GOES INTO AN AREA AT 75 MPH THROWS 5 TIMES AND IF NO FISH HE DOES 75 TO ANOTHER SPOT. CAN'T CONVINCE HIM IF HE WOULD EASE INTO A SPOT AND FISH IT THOUROUGHLY HE WOULD CATCH A LOT MORE FISH.
LAST TIME I WENT WITH HIM I SPENT THE NEXT THREE DAYS IN BED BECAUSE OF THE BEATING I GOT RIDING THE TOP OF THOSE WAVES.
