i have never had any luck with stink bait. i usually use skipjack or shad for cats. when i can't get those i will use chicken breast but usually only catch small ones on chicken. i try to catch my shad and skip jack in the spring and freeze enough for the summer.i have always froze them whole but this year i think i am going to chop them up and dump them in a tub mix everything up then scoop out bag fulls and freeze it that way

I also freeze bait have been doing it for over 30 years.
And the big shipjack I cut into bait size and freeze. the little skipjack are used as one bait. unfer 8" long.

But this bait catchs lots of fish, And is not a stink bait. Its cheeze and a little oil soak that up with foam cut to the size you need for bait.
Its a trot line bait. But will and did work on a rod and reel/
tryed one piece today and caught one fish.
Was sauger fishing, so only used the one piece of bait.
2 sauger, 1 drum, And one strip.

The sauger are just getting started here. Water temp is 59 degrees. So it needs to drop a few more degrees. And they will start feeding good.
Let me guess, He is catching them on crankbaits?
I will take sauger over bass anyday. The sauger are some fine eating. Had some tonight.
