The tranducer is 6" long. so its a lot bigger then most. And it also mounts to the back of the boat. Has to have a clear path out the side of the boat. As for the sidescan it works around 2 mph to 6 mph. So i the motor is in the way just tilt it up and go for it.
Also I hope it gets here in time tomrrow to get it on the boat. and try it out Tuesday. Heading to The cumberland River on Thursday for a few days of fishing. Hoot come on up and fish with us. I think theres going to be around 40 there.
Pete

Here is a standard screen shot of the color depthfinder. Not mine off the net.

Here is a picture taken with my 987si of a school of bait and a school of spots moving in on the bait in 41 ft of water. This colder weather is finally bunching up the shad and the Spots turning on the dropshot/spoon bite on my homelake. The bait is the solid cloud on the left of the screen and the spots are the spaghetti looking mess on the right. If you look hard you can see what looks like a fish or two on top of the bait.
This is just one of a few pics that I took of some deep schooling fish. Most of my schoolers have moved from the 20-30ft range to the 30-40ft range due to this recent cold snap. Air temp was 26 degrees the morning that I took these pics. Fish were active on the dropshot and one of the fish I hung into that was in this school was BIG! However, she hung me up on a dock support cable so I could'nt tell you how big :(. Come on COLD WEATHER!!!!!!

SUBJECT: # 46511: Humminbird 987 pics

Submitted by Triton Mike from ALABAMA on 9/14/05 6:16:00 PM

Here is a picture I took this morning of a pretty decent size brushpile I found that I never knew existed. My first pass through this creek I had the side imaging out 150 ft on each side of the boat. I saw this brush on the edge of the screen (it was about 140ft out) and made a pass back over it with a split sonar to get an idea on the height and size of the brushpile. After that pass I came back over it with a dropshot and caught a few small fish off of it. As you can see from the pic the brush was approx 5ft tall. You can get an idea from the shadow that the brushpile emits to get an idea on the size of the brush you are seeing on the screen
