- Blondie -- Cheri Stewart, 22:55:39 08/25/02 Sun
I just got done reading all of the above messages and felt guilty that I've never supported this message board. It really is a great way to try to unify all 100+ working for Proscript.
I have lived in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area since 1994. Before that, I was a California girl (No, I didn't have a perpetual tan or a Valley Girl attitude!) I've been doing transcription since 1984, before which I was an LVN. I decided that typing patients' complaints was much better than listening to them in person. Besides, I get to sit all the time, which I do very well.
I "ran away" from my 19-year-old daughter in 1994 and ended up moving in with my parents here in Texas. Doing that was hard but produced two big blessings: 1) My daughter finally got her life straightened out and has become a very responsible mother and worker {she now lives close to me}; 2) I found a wonderful man here, and we've been married for almost 6 years now. My grandkids are Daniel (9) and Alyssa (6), and, as all grandparents know, they are the cat's meow! (I know I'm dating myself with that one!)
I love to read. I play keyboard for our church, and also play the harp for weddings, parties, etc. And, as most of you are aware, I love to criticize; that's why doing QA is such a perfect fit for me! I may be quiet and shy in person, but when I pick up that pen (a.k.a. keyboard), all shyness flies out the window. Sorry about that!
Well, so much for an introduction. Now if we can just get a lot more of you writing. Just remember that though we know your name (and how well you can spell), you are a faceless entity, so that should take the fear out of opening yourself up to strangers! As one preacher admonished his congregation: "After the service today, I want all of you who attend here regularly to go and expose yourselves to our visitors!" That must have been a California church.
There is one other hobby I have: Collecting bloopers made by either the dictator or the transcriptionist. I once had a doctor dictate: "Pt. has a history of impotence, but that has straightened up." He also said, "He has had no pregnancy that he has caused." And then there was a doctor who used the word "apparently" in almost every sentence, which "apparently" would have been okay except when he said: "Apparently, both breasts are missing."
Okay, I'll quit there. I have a ton of those, and maybe I'll share a few here and there just so we can get a much-needed laugh relief. And if I use any of y'all's mistakes, I promise to change the name to protect the guilty.
Cheri

Hi from Texas -- Sandra Mayne, 03:33:34 05/19/02 Sun
First time to post a message and if you find a mistake, forgive me I just finished my shift and it is 6:30 a.m. in the morning. I live in Fort Worth, Texas and I have been with the company since January of 2000 and thank Pat everyday for giving me the chance to become a full time transcriptionist. I have a degree in nursing but had to give it up due to problems with panic attacks, so working at home is perfect for me.
I am married to my second husband and have two sons. One 25 and unmarried and the other is 28 and has been married since 1995 and here is the best news of all and I can finally shout it from the roof tops....I AM GOING TO BE A GRANDMOTHER for the first time. Our little bundle of joy is due January 8th, 2003. Hopefully can let you know what we are having when she has her sonogram at 20 weeks. In the meantime, sure I will hear from her a lot as I was an OB-GYN office nurse when I was nursing. Of course, my husband and I have our own little bundle of joy.....a 5 pound black Yorkie named Riley.
Happy MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION WEEK to everyone out there.

- E-Mail -- Virginia Greenstone, 14:56:07 04/29/02 Mon
Hi!
I, like the rest of you, have received a ton of E-mail, much of it appearing to come from other employees of PS; however, a lot of the subject lines are enough off center so that I realize they cannot be from anyone I know (or anyone I would ever want to know).
So, for now, I'm just not opening any E-Mail. If you need to reach me by EM, please type in, "1, 2, 3" in the subject line and I will know it is from a fellow employee.
Thanks!
Virginia

Just a note. To those who already know this, please forgive me, but for those who don't, it's a very good shortcut.
When you pull up our web site and go to the sites page...when the sites page comes up, if you will go up to your favorites and save that page, you can bypass going to the web page directly and having to put in the password...next time you want to pull it up, it will go directly to the sites page!

- Augusta -- Anne Saqer, 09:16:55 04/23/02 Tue
Don't know how many out there do Augusta site, but just talked to Pat this morning and want to clarify something that some might not know as it is not in the site notes.
When Dr. Carter or Catherine Easter state "TIME SEEN" or "TIME OF INITIAL CONTACT" this goes on the very first line of the report....some MT's are being QA'd and told not to put this on the report, but rather in the demographics..
The point is....the TIME SEEN in the demographics does not transfer to the report for Site 88 (AUGUSTA) so it is pointless to type in the time in the demographics...
In other words, when Thomas Carter says TIME SEEN: it goes right above the CHIEF COMPLAINT...same with Catherine Easter...
On difference on Catherine Easter is....
You type:
CATHERINE EASTER, N.P., DICTATING FOR JOHN DOE, M.D.(BOLDED)
TIME OF INITIAL CONTACT: 2022
CHIEF COMPLAINT:
Hope this helps....

Hey all you North Texans who are in tornado alley at the moment! Chris, I know you still have rotations in your area near Cleburne, and it's now 7:00 p.m. Are ya'll okay? I'm in west Fort Worth, and all we've had is rain off and on. The tornado that hit east Fort Worth was about five miles south of where my oldest daughter goes to Catholic high school, and they were at softball practice. I finally was able to get hold of her, and they were all down in the school's basement (the softball girls, the baseball boys, and the track team, and were probably having a grand old time!). I'm looking at the damage on T.V. as we speak. How scary!! I hope everyone who lives in the DFW area is safe through all of this!! Let me know how you are!

- Introduction -- Kathi Allen, 09:20:12 03/27/02 Wed
Hi guys! This is a great idea! I live in Colorado with my husband of 34 years, Rich. We have three kids: Kristi, who is 30, married, mother of an 11-year-old, 2-year-old twin girls, is pregnant and due in October, and works as an accounting manager for Corvel Medical Billing. What she does in her spare time, we have never figured out!
Then there's Randy, who is 27, married, and the father of Michaela, 3, Gabriella, 2, and another one in the oven. He's a youth pastor in Oklahoma while he finishes his degree at Ozark Christian College.
Finally we have Kyria. She's 23, married, no kids, and is an insulin dependent diabetic, very brittle in nature.
I had my own business for 3 years when I was an MT among other jobs, and I have been working steadily as an MT now for two years, the last one with ProScript. This is SOOOOO much better than working in a hospital!

- Betta Fishies? -- Christine Yubeta, 13:43:18 04/05/02 Fri
Hi Everyone,
I have a question. Does anyone have one of these fishies? Does anyone have one of these fishies in the plant/vase/colored marbles set up? I just got one and now am reading that it is a horrible idea and that one should cease and desist immediately if you have a set up like this. So....if you have any info, i.e. success stories, horror stories, suggestions, could you please email me directly? Also, I have these beta bite nugget thingies that the lady who built this sent home with him, but he isn't eating them?!? Okay, I thank you all in advance! Talk to you soon!

This is such a wonderful idea. I've really enjoyed reading about everyone.
My name is Stacey Lock. I live in southern Illinois in a rural community. I just started with Proscript this past summer and have really enjoyed it. I've been a transcriptionist for about five years now. Before that, I was a full time mommy. My husband, Gary, and I have been married for 16 years. He's a commercial artist. We have four sons - Elijah (14), Levi (12), Joel (11), and Zachariah (9). I work nights which works out perfectly for us because I spend a LOT of time at ballgames. We love music and I have to admit, we're the old people that kids see at rock concerts (LOL). I'll be 40 in December, but I'm actually looking forward to it.
Well, enough about me for now. If any of you are ever by Altamont, come by. I live in a town where everybody knows where everybody lives. It's not that hard to find. I'm the house with the yard filled with bikes, scooters, balls, boys.......

Hello! -- Carol Clark, 17:20:12 03/27/02 Wed
Chris, this is a great thing you have done. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.
I have been with Proscript since November 2000. I currently work in the "on call" category since it fits my schedule better. Why?, you ask. Well, I work full-time as a medical transcriptionist in a local hospital, but wanted to get an at-home position. When I read about and inquired, Proscript seemed to fit the bill perfectly. I am extremely happy working at Proscript and hope to be with them for a long time. Additionally, hubby works swing shifts (all three) with days off in the middle of the week, works weekends and holidays, etc., so I like to be flexible to be able to spend time with him once in awhile LOL.
We have one son who is 30, married, no children. He and his wife would like to have a child, so we will see what the future holds in store.
We live in Pennsylvania. When not working and when the weather is cooperative, my husband and I are golf nuts and head to the links every chance we get.
Guess I've rambled on enough now. Having this board is going to be great!!!!
Carol

And so, the message board is officially "active!!!"
Now that Alice has got the ball rolling, I'll chime in with my info. I've been doing MT for probably about 10 years now. I love it.
We're a blended family, a "mine, yours and ours" kind of deal. My husband's name is Rob. All together we have FIVE children, the girls, 17, 14, 13, 10, and our "prince," Dane, who is 3-1/2.
We spend a great amount of time on the road, going from one soccer practice to another or one band concert or another...but when we aren't, we just enjoy being still :-)
I think this is going to be great fun!

This is such a great idea! I have enjoyed reading all the messages so far. We really are scattered across the country! I live in Fort Worth, TX (born and raised). I have been an MT for about 4 yrs with 2-1/2 being with Proscript. I did transcription in an OB/GYN office before that, but I love being able to work at home. I'm a soon-to-be single mom (his idea, not mine), 43 yrs old, with two wonderful girls, Erin Rose (15) and Lauren Elizabeth (11). When I'm not working, I spend most of my time at ball games (notice I did not say SPARE time because I have none!). My oldest plays volleyball, basketball, and softball. Right now, she is on the varsity softball team (and she's only a freshman!) and also plays on an AAU select basketball team. My youngest also plays volleyball, basketball, and softball. I do miss being able to actually talk to people at work, so TALK TO ME!!!!! I can't wait to hear from eveyone!

Another Intro -- Mary Kleppin, 15:21:48 04/01/02 Mon
Hi everyone,
What a great idea this board is. I live in Wisconsin, born and raised here. I am what you would call "a farmer's daughter".
I've been a transcriptionist for close to nine years. I've been with Proscript for almost a year now.
I'm 41, married with two children, one cat and two dogs, a choc. lab and a Great Dane. My kids are Jack - 15 and Amanda - 11.
In my spare time I create web sites - yes I find spare time in my busy days. I just recently finished redesigning a web site for a friend who owns, breeds and shows Great Danes. Not only can I type, but I have a very creative gift (bragging just a bit).
My family also own, breed and show Great Danes. My Dane will be bred later this summer and I'll be expecting puppies in Oct or Nov. If your interested my Danes and the family Danes can be seen at www.geocities.com/stellardanes The site I redesigned is at www.eastwooddanes.com I am not pictured at our site, just my mother-in-law is. My Dane is Ch. Stellar's C. Ara V. Regal.
I also have an MSN messenger, if anyone is interested you can add me in with my email address of mmkleppin@msn.com.
Hope to meet more of you.
Mary

Okay, I'm gonna be 40 really soon (like in June) (gasps, then falls to the floor in a dead faint, or some would call it syncope). I have three kids and guess what, trying for one more. Yes, You heard me right. But if hubby doesn't get his act together by June, then I'm going back on the pill. Raven is 16, Hannah is 13, Laith is 11..and I'm gray headed. I have been married 21 years and so has my husband.
Have been doing MT work for 11 years...and sometimes still feel like such an air head. Love this job, love the people that work here. It's like a family to me. Also, I am doing QA sometimes, so if I send you something and it's wrong, please tell me, HEY!!!! YOUR WRONG!. Grins, it's a learning situation for all really. But sometimes you don't hear, "the ambulance brought him in" you hear "he ambulated right on in" LAUGHS SO HARD...
Oh, there was that report that I typed where the lady asked the pharmacist if he had Viagra and he said yes. She looked at Him and asked, "Can you get it over the counter?" He said, If I take two..
Oh, never mind...walks off laughing.

Hello all!! I think this is a great idea. I have been an MT for almost two years. I started working with proscript when I was pregnant with my second child. When things started slowing up a bit I stopped working because I was only part-time.
I now have a day job working as an MT for a physicians office and decided that I wouldn't have enough time right now to type for proscript but Pat keeps me updated on new info. You never know when my schedule might change to where I will be able to type with proscript again. It is a great company and love working with them.
I live in Texas and have been married for almost 6 years. I have two wonderful boys. Justin is 4 (in May) and Tyler is 19 months. So, you can see how busy I am.
I look forward to meeting everyone!! Alice

Hello everyone...since we are all on the internet the MSN messenger is a great, fast way to get help from each other...The other day I messaged Cheryl Stapleton and saved myself from having to send a stat to QA. I couldn't find a word and asked her and she helped me out...If you don't want to be bothered by using it, you always have the option of turning it off..but it is a great medium, better than the telephone even because it's free.
Anyone can get MSN messenger...so..just enter my E-mail address to your add list and waaalaaaa.. Enter Kaji_Smiles@hotmail.com...my screen name is ahlora..
Now, I get all my work E-mail at asaqer.01@charter.net, so don't E-mail me at Kaji_Smiles@hotmail.com with work stuff.

- Hi Everyone, introduction -- Alice Spencer, 08:44:58 03/27/02 Wed
Great idea Chris!! I know I really feel isolated sometimes.
I'll get the intro's started here, I'm 29, I've got a wonderful 4-1/2-year-old daughter named Maddy (short for Madeline) and have been married to the world's best husband for the last six months, that would be Jeff :-) I live in Derry, NH which is about an hour north of Boston. I've been doing MT for three years the last one with Proscript. I work nights Sun-Thurs and usually have yahoo IM and MSN IM on during those times, my screen name for both is ribbitsmum.
When I'm not working I'm a fiber addict, I knit, crochet, spin, sew, you name it. I also like to read. Of course playing with Maddy and spending time with Jeff (we are newlyweds after all) are top priority.
Thanks again for the great idea Chris and I look forward to "meeting" all of you.
