Subject: 990517 Pre-Flight Brief Mission #2-4

Pre Flight Brief for 142nd Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group, 8th Air Force. Date is 990517, Time on deck is 1945 hours. (Be in squadron chat at this time to attend. Might start a little late depending on first mission.)

We are assigned to fly the British Spitfire IXC on a bomb run mission. We will take off from an airfield in the British Islands and will formup in the stack formation. Our target is somewhere on the coast of occupied France.

Time of eng start will be 1330. Taxi time is 1345 and take off begins at 1400. This is a day time mission so the visibility should be around 9 miles. Weather is predicted to be clear.

Enemy turnout is predicted to be small and are expected to be newly trained "green" pilots. Maintain radio silence to the target and call out bandits as soon as visual contact is made. Stay in formation until we reach the target. When target is 15K out the flight lead will call spread. We will go from the tight stack to the line formation. Everyone will have 3K distance between them and be at the same altitude. After each member finishes his bomb run, they will reform on flight lead in a figure four formation. At this time flight lead will designate any remaining bandits for dog fights. Take care of your target and reform again.

Load out for this mission will be bombs.

If there are any comments from the CO, he will reply to this message with a subject line ="COMMENTS FROM CO". If there are any questions about this mission, reply to this message with the subject line ="QUESTION". I will check for questions and address any additional information during the "taxi brief" (In chat).
