Subject: Week 4, for those not of the body (landrew awaita you)...

[editors note ] it’s far from perfect, so take it with the proverbial grain of salt. Quick down and dirty this week. Having fun again, unencumbered by the confines of a real job. ALAS, this can’t last long, so enjoy! 3 weeks gone, what’s your status, Gladys? Are you happy? Feel you got screwed? Make your opinions know in The FORUM!

Springfield (1-2) at Colorado (3-0)

Guess somebody forgot to tell the Slayers they have an offense?!? Somebody needs to bring Colorado back to earth soon. It won’t be Springfield this week. Make the Call? SPR 18, COL 25.

Dayton (2-1) at Billings (1-2)

Huge statement from the Flyers last week: need to continue to be competitive in games to achieve seasonal goal – the play offs. Thunderbolts masking defensive deficiencies in draft with offense flash to put fans in the stands. It’s an old trick. Draft for offense and create a stir so fans show up expecting a W, only to be heart broken when the player they SHOULD have drafted (CB McIntyre) made their future much more secure, especially given the present line up. Expect major futility for this franchise this season, bordering on the league doormat. Make the Call? DAY 24, BIL 18.

Black Hills (1-2) at Lincoln (0-3)

The [MEAN] Machine: how often have we seen it in the past? Rarely have we seen this team with its’ back to the wall so early in the season. Often, we have seen this team end up with 9 and 10 wins. Seems this season will be no different. Small wonder they took care of business last week. Lincoln still praising Abraham. Make the Call? BLK 24, LIN 9.

Portland (2-1) at Fargo (2-1)

“…just win, baby…” Quote needs no intro, nor do the Portland Prowlers. Have y’all checked this roster lately? This team is LOADED, and will remain so for the foreseeable future. Yea, they predictably lost at Black Hills last week. Make the call? POR 23, FGO 20.

Honolulu (2-1) at Wichita (2-1)

Could well be the Game of the Week! 2 relative newbie GMs wielding historically strong franchises duke it out for bragging rights in the conference? Make the call? Pick ‘em.

Mobile (1-2) at Louisiana (2-1)

Can GM Banghart ‘throw the switch’ at will and beat whomever he wants whenever he wants? Would not put it past this wily GM to have a trick or 2 up his sleeve. Last week’s win probably be more proof of how far Madison has slipped this season. The Beast licking wounds after the obligatory road loss to the Fire Dogs. Make the Call? MOB 18, LOU 25.

Mississippi (2-1) at Austin (2-1)

Austin intent on claiming the division crown. Wouldn’t bet against them week. Last season’s memories are still vivid: division loss after division loss. Mississippi couldn’t win a road game if its’ life depended on it. Guess what? IT DOES HERE! Make the Call? AUS 21, MIS 17.

Steel Valley (1-2) at Madison (1-2)

Backup Game of the Week? Both teams need a W here. Steel Valley lost last week to division rival Dayton. We expected better. Madison lost to probable conference doormat Mobile: NOT good. We put the challenge on Dayton, and they responded on the road. Can Madison do the same this week at home? We doubt it. Make the Call? STV 17, MAD 16.

St Louis (1-2) at Fort Wayne (1-2)

Both teams have equal records, but St Louis has the advantage in the division: 2-1. We think this team is too good NOT to go .500 on the road here. St Louis management may not have any faith in the defense, we do. The offense is improving. Fort Wayne under the tutelage of a young GM. Better results will happen in the future, just not this week. Make the Call? STL 24, FWS 23.
