DEATH OF THE LAND

The humanland of USA should not be oh so proud,
The wails of the dieing land are so painfully loud.
The humans that walk this place used to hear such keening,
But away, over the past centuries, we have been a-leaning.
Why can no one hear but I?
Why can no one see but I?
Why must our land die?
Because of humankind.

Look out over cross the vista, forest paths and hills,
To know what will become of it, gives me the chills.
All mowed down and coated with buildings and the like,
No longer up the majestic mountain will we be able to hike.
Why can no one hear but I?
Why can no one see but I?
Why must our land die?
Because of humankind.

Propaganda and manipulation rapidly make their reign,
The new cities quickly grow old, quickly lose their shine.
So what now, it's all done, guess we start anew,
Destroy another bit of nature, where something precious grew.
Why can no one hear but I?
Why can no one see bu I?
Why must our land die?
Because of humankind.

This subtle plague is spreading, all across the earth,
The humans don't seem to know what the land is truly worth.
It's not a plot or pasture, not a foundation for their town,
It's the celestial body we call home, but now the deity shall frown.
Why can no on hear but I?
Why can no one see but I?
Why must our land die?
Because of humankind.

We took Its child and wrecked and ravaged, since the dawn of creation,
We evolved this cursed need to spread, and insanely powerful emotion,
We dirty and curse, the Deity must be in stun,
We should step up to take the deserved shun.
Why can no one hear but I?
Why can no one see but I?
Why must our land die?
Because of humankind.

You might call me a little cynical freak,
That I am, you fool, cynisism I do reek.
No one seems to heed me, this's our only chance,
I suppose that now all that's left to do is step back and dance the dance.
