In these messages i will tell you how my horses are getting on ect. I walked into the barn. I had desided to work with Baby today. She has just been backed and i need to work on her canter off the lunge with a person on her back. So i walked up to her stall and she neighed a greating. I started to brush her smooth chestnut coat. When i had finished i went to fetch her tack. I put her bridle on ok but she squealed and stamped her hooves when i did up her girth. I took her into the the outdoor ring as it was i nice day. I was going to lunge her for 10 mins before i started but i had left the lungeing kit in her stall. So i put my foot in the stirup and gently lowered my self down onto her back. She turned round to have a look at me but she did nothing else. I squezed her with my legs and i told her to walk on. After a few circles round i decided to try her at a trot. Again i gave her a squeze with my legs and told her to trot on. At the moment she only responds to my voice put if i keep squezing her when i use my voice she will eventually learn. We trotted round for about 10 mins when i stoped and i let her have her head. I suddenly realised how well she had behaved today. Over the pass few weeks she had got very naughty and she had not been behaving. I decided that today was the day to try and canter her off the lunge. So i set her of at a steady trot and when we got to the bend i asked her to canter. It was the best feeling. She had done it first time, her strides were long and full of power. After 3 goes round i asked her to trot and then to walk. Baby did not argue for she had had enough for one day. I cooled her down and set her out into one of our paddocks for the night.
